Zipper Design Tutorial

1. Pick 3 different colors. You will use 2 strands of each color you choose. (This example uses 2 strands of red, 2 strands of white, and 2 strands of blue).

2. Align strings, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

3. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use red in slots 1, 2, 3, 4, then white in 5, 6, 7, and blue in 8, 9, 10. You will have one extra strand of white and one extra strand of blue. Cut off these extra strands near your starting knot.

4. Take string #1 and make a right hand double knot with string #2. String #1 will now be in slot 2.

5. Take string #3 and make a right hand double knot with string #4. String #3 will now be in slot 4.

6. Take string #5 and make a right hand double knot with string #6. String #5 will now be in slot 6.

7. Take string #8 and make a single left knot, and then a single right with string #7. String #8 will stay in slot 8.

8. Take string #9 and make a right hand double knot with string #10. String #9 will now be in slot 10.

9. Take string #2 and make a right hand double knot with string #3. String #2 will now be in slot 3.

10. Take string #5 and make a single left knot, and then a single right with string #4. String #5 will stay in slot 5.

11. Take string #6 and make a right hand double knot with string #7. String #6 will now be in slot 7.

12. Take string #8 and make a right hand double knot with string #9. String #8 will now be in slot 9.

13. You’ve now completed one rotation of the pattern. Repeat steps 4-12 until your bracelet is long enough to
wear.

14. Once your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the slots 1, 2 & 3 in your left hand and the strings from slots 8, 9 & 10 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.

15. Take the braided strand and tie two basic knots at the end of your friendship bracelet.

16. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is ready to wear or share!
