Christmas Stocking Design Tutorial

1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses white, red & dark green). You will need 1 strand of white, 2 strands of red & 3 strands of dark green.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

4. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color in slot 1 (white), slots 3, 5, 7 & 9 (red) & slots 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 (green). You will have one extra green strand & one extra white strand that you will need to cut close to your knot. This will align the strings of your bracelet pattern.

5. To begin, take string #2 (green) and make a left hand double knot with string #1 (white). String #2 (green) will now be in slot 1.

6. Take string #4 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (red). String #4 (green) will stay in slot 4.

7. Take string #6 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (red). String #6 (green) will stay in slot 6.

8. Take string #8 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (red). String #8 (green) will stay in slot 8.

9. Take string #10 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (red). String #10 (green) will stay in slot 10.

10. Take string #2 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (red). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

11. Take string #5 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #4 (green). String #5 (red) will stay in slot 5.

12. Take string #7 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #6 (green). String #7 (red) will stay in slot 7.

13. Take string #9 (red) and make a left hand double knot with string #8 (green). String #9 (red) will now be in slot 8.

14. Take string #2 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (green). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

15. Take string #3 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #4 (green). String #3 (red) will stay in slot 3.

16. Take string #5 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #6 (green). String #5 (red) will stay in slot 5.

17. Take string #8 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (red). String #8 (red) will stay in slot 8.

18. Take string #10 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (green). String #10 (green) will stay in slot 10.

19. Take string #2 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (red). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

20. Take string #5 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #4 (green). String #5 (red) will stay in slot 5.

21. Take string #7 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #6 (green). String #7 (red) will stay in slot 7.

22. Take string #8 (red) and make a right hand double knot with string #9 (green). String #8 (red) will now be in slot 9.

23. Take string #2 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (green). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

24. Take string #3 (red) and make a right hand double knot with string #4 (green). String #3 (red) will now be in slot 4.

25. Take string #5 (red) and make a right hand double knot with string #6 (green). String #5 (red) will now be in slot 6.

26. Take string #7 (red) and make a right hand double knot with string #8 (green). String #7 (red) will now be in slot 8.

27. Take string #10 (green) and make a left hand double knot with string #9 (red). String #10 (green) will now be in slot 9.

28. Take string #2 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (green). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

29. Take string #4 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #5 (green). String #4 (red) will stay in slot 4.

30. Take string #6 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #7 (green). String #6 (red) will stay in slot 6.

31. Take string #8 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #9 (green). String #8 (red) will stay in slot 8.

32. Take string #1 (green) and make a right hand double knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (green) will now be in slot 2.

33. Take string #3 (green) and make a right hand double knot with string #4 (red). String #3 (green) will now be in slot 4.

34. Take string #5 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #6 (red). String #5 (green) will stay in slot 5.

35. Take string #8 (red) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (green). String #8 (red) will stay in slot 8.

36. Take string #9 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #10 (red). String #9 (green) will stay in slot 9.

37. Take string #2 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (red). String #2 (green) will stay in slot 2.

38. Take string #4 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #5 (green). String #4 (green) will stay in slot 4.

39. Take string #6 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #7 (green). String #6 (red) will stay in slot 6.

40. Take string #8 (red) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #9 (green). String #8 (red) will stay in slot 8.

41. Take string #2 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (white). String #2 (green) will stay in slot 2.

42. Take string #4 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (red). String #4 (green) will stay in slot 4.

43. Take string #5 (green) and make a right hand double knot with string #6 (red). String #5 (green) will now be in slot 6.

44. Take string #7 (green) and make a right hand double knot with string #8 (red). String #7 (green) will now be in slot 8.

45. Take string #9 (green) and make a right hand double knot with string #10 (red). String #9 (green) will now be in slot 10.

46. Take string #2 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (red). String #2 (green) will stay in slot 2.

47. Take string #4 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #5 (red). String #4 (green) will stay in slot 4.

48. Take string #6 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #7 (red). String #6 (green) will stay in slot 6.

49. Take string #8 (green) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #9 (red). String #8 (green) will stay in slot 8.

50. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself. Repeat steps 5-49 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

51. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the slots 1, 2 & 3 in your left hand and the strings from slots 8, 9 & 10 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.

52. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of your friendship bracelet. 

53. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the clip and cut off the excess braided section. Your bracelet made with the friendship bracelet pattern Christmas Stocking is ready to wear or share!
