Skull Design Tutorial

1.  Pick 3 different colors.  (The example uses purple, black & white).  You will need 1 strand of purple, 3 strands of black & 3 strands of white.  Purple is only used as a border color.  You can choose any color that you would like for the border.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

4. This pattern uses 14 strings which is exceeds the amount of slots that the MYFBM holds.  You will need to have two loose strings on each end.  The strings hanging loose on the left hand side will be referred to as #-1 & #0.  The two loose strings on the right will be referred to as #11 & #12.  Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color in slots -1 & 12 (purple), slots 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 &10 (black) & slots 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 11 (white).  Your border color (in this case purple) will always be on the outer edges even though there will be two loose strings on each side.

5.   To begin, take string#-1 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #-1 (purple) will stay in slot -1 (always on the outside left edge).

6.  Take string #1 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #2 (black).  String #1 (white) will stay in slot 1.

7.  Take string #3 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #4 (black).  String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.

8.  Take string #5 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #6 (black).  String #5 (white) will stay in slot 5.

9.  Take string #7 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #8 (black).  String #7 (white) will stay in slot 7.

10.  Take string #9 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #10 (black).  String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.

11.  Take string #12 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #12 (purple) will stay in slot 12 (always on the outside right edge).

12. Take string #1 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #1 (white) will stay in slot 1.

13. Take string #3 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #2 (black).  String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.

14. Take string #5 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #4 (black).  String #5 (white) will stay in slot 5.

15.  Take string #7 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #6 (black).  String #7 (white) will stay in slot 7.

16. Take string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #8 (black).  String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.

17. Take string #11 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #10 (black).  String #11 (white) will stay in slot 11.

18. Take string #-1 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #-1 (purple) will stay in slot -1 (always on the outside left edge).

19. Take string #2 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (white).  String #2 (black) will stay in slot 2.

20. Take string #4 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (white).  String #4 (black) will stay in slot 4.

21. Take string #6 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (white).  String #6 (black) will stay in slot 6.

22. Take string #8 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (white).  String #8 (black) will stay in slot 8.

23. Take string #10 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (white).  String #10 (black) will stay in slot 10.

24.  Take string #12 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #12 (purple) will stay in slot 12 (always on the outside right edge).

25. Take string #0 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #1 (white).  String #0 (black) will stay in slot 0.

26.  Take string #2 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (white).  String #2 (black) will stay in slot 2.

27. Take string #4 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #5 (white).  String #4 (black) will stay in slot 4.

28. Take string #6 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #7 (white).  String #6 (black) will stay in slot 6.

29.  Take string #8 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #9 (white).  String #8 (black) will stay in slot 8.

30. Take string #10 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #10 (black) will stay in slot 10.

31. Take string #-1 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #-1 (purple) will stay in slot -1 (always on the outside left edge).

32. Take string #2 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (white).  String #2 (black) will stay in slot 2.

33. Take string #4 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (white).  String #4 (black) will stay in slot 4.

34.  Take string #6 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (white).  String #6 (black) will stay in slot 6.

35.  Take string #8 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (white).  String #8 (black) will stay in slot 8.

36.  Take string #10 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (white).  String #10 (black) will stay in slot 10.

37. Take string #12 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #12 (purple) will stay in slot 12 (always on the outside right edge).

38. Take string #0 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #1 (white).  String #0 (black) will stay in slot 0.

39. Take string #3 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #2 (black).  String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.

40. Take string #5 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #4 (black).  String #5 (white) will stay in slot 5.

41.  Take string #7 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #6 (black).  String #7 (white) will stay in slot 7.

42. Take string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #8 (black).  String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.

43. Take string #10 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #10 (black) will stay in slot 10.

44. Take string #-1 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #-1 (purple) will stay in slot -1 (always on the outside left edge).

45. Take string #2 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (white).  String #2 (black) will stay in slot 2.

46.  Take string #3 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #4 (black).  String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.

81.  Take string #8 (black) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #9 (white).  String #8 (black) will stay in slot 8.

82.  Take string #11 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #10 (black).  String #11 (white) will stay in slot 11.

83.  Take string #-1 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #-1 (purple) will stay in slot -1 (always on the outside left edge).

84.  Take string #1 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #2 (black).  String #1 (white) will stay in slot 1.

85.  Take string #4 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (white).  String #4 (black) will stay in slot 4.

86.  Take string #6 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (white).  String #6 (black) will stay in slot 6.

87. Take string #8 (black) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (white).  String #8 (black) will stay in slot 8.

88. Take string #9 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #10 (black).  String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.

89.  Take string #12 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #11 (white).  String #12 (purple) will stay in slot 12 (always on the outside right edge).

90. Take string #1 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #0 (black).  String #1 (white) will stay in slot 1.

91.  Take string #3 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #2 (black).  String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.

92.  Take string #5 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #4 (black).  String #5 (white) will stay in slot 5.

93. Take string #7 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #6 (black).  String #7 (white) will stay in slot 7.

94.  Take string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #8 (black).  String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.

95.  Take string #11 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #10 (black).  String #11 (white) will stay in slot 11.

96. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself.  Repeat steps 5-95 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

97.  Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the slots -1, 0, 1, 2 & 3 in your left hand and the strings from slots 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.

98. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of your friendship bracelet. 

99. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut off the excess braided section. Your bracelet made with the friendship bracelet pattern Skull design is ready to wear or share!
